Auditor Nicole Galloway statement on passage of Medicaid Expansion in Oklahoma
July 1, 2020Columbia, Mo. — Following voter-approval of Medicaid Expansion in Oklahoma yesterday, Auditor Nicole Galloway made the following statement:
“The passage of Medicaid Expansion in Oklahoma is good news for that state, but also a positive sign for Missourians that healthcare is on the way in spite of Governor Parson’s best efforts to stop it. I have every confidence that Missouri will be the next state where voters do what the politicians haven’t, and vote to expand Medicaid. I support Medicaid expansion because it will give roughly a quarter-million Missouri families access to insurance, create tens of thousands of jobs, save our rural hospitals and spur economic activity at a time when we need it most. Governor Parson has failed to help Missouri families with the rising costs of healthcare. At a time when many Missourians are concerned about the impact of the coronavirus and being able to afford necessities such as healthcare, the Governor is opposing Medicaid Expansion and making it harder for thousands of Missouri families.”
